Description

The Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the faith. It defines that there is one God who exists eternally as three distinct divine Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
The Trinity means that while the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are "three" in their relationships to one another, they are "one" in their shared divine nature and essence.
The Three Persons
- God the Father: The ultimate source or first principle of all life. He is unbegotten and represents the creator and sustainer of the universe.
- God the Son: The second person of the Trinity. He is eternally begotten of the Father and became incarnate as Jesus Christ to redeem humanity.
- God the Holy Spirit: The third person. He eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son and acts as the guide, comforter, and sanctifier within the church and believers.
