Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday commemorating Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas in 1492, and Columbus Day 2026 falls on Monday, October 12. Christopher Columbus is the patron and namesake of the Knights of Columbus.
Father Michael McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus and chose Christopher Columbus as the organization's namesake because, at a time when anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant sentiments ran rampant, the American public had a strong affinity for this famous explorer. Founded in the United States in 1882, it honors Christopher Columbus and is dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Our Knights of Columbus are doing a food drive. Their donation box is in the Narthex.
